The piece Noeuds et nuages (Knots and Clouds) was composed at the request of harpsichordist Laure Morabito for the fourth section of her collection Clavecin 20/21, Éditions Henri Lemoine.
The title ‘Knots and Clouds’ may evoke metaphors that can be seen in the score and when listening to the piece: lines (like threads) that fall, rise and cross between the four hands to form clusters, (like knots and clouds). These lines and clusters can be fluid and continuous, or they can stop and hang in the air whilst the sounds fade away ...
